Position Overview :

As part of the talented Thunder Jet Weld team, we are seeking a skilled Aluminum Welder with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in MIG and TIG welding. The ideal candidate will have strong fabrication abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings. This role involves producing high-quality welds on aluminum components and assisting with custom fabrication projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Minimum 2 years of welding experience including the ability to perform MIG and TIG welding processes on aluminum materials with precision and consistency.
  • Be able to fabricate and assemble aluminum boats, including hulls, bottoms, and other components.
  • Interpret and apply blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to plan and execute welding and fabrication procedures.
  • Measure, cut, and fit aluminum components using a skill saw, band saw, and other fabrication tools.
  • Inspect and test welded surfaces and structures to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards with project specifications.
  • Operate hand and power tools, grinders, and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
  • Complete all necessary documentation for production tracking and quality assurance.
  • Identify and report risks and hazards to ensure a safe work environment for all personnel.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques, tools, and weld shop safety protocols and procedures
  • Fabrication processes including measuring, cutting, and assembling materials
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Ability to follow established safety processes to handle chemicals and equipment to weld aluminum.
  • Must be able to read drawings and specifications.
  • Work overtime to meet production needs.
  • Knowledge and practice time management processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain good attendance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Welding certificates (AWS or equivalent)
  • Experience with welding fabrication projects
  • Self-starter, team player with high focus on safe and effective job performance
  • Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen and LSS

Working Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, see, sit, and use arms, hands, and fingers.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, balance, and use arms and hands to reach, pull, push, clasp, and move a variety of materials.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level is moderate to high in the manufacturing setting.
