We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to support students with hearing differences in achieving their full academic and social potential. In this role, you‘ll provide specialized instruction, foster communication development, and help students fully access the general education curriculum.
Provide direct instruction in:
Auditory skills and listening development
Speech and language support (in collaboration with SLPs)
American Sign Language (ASL), cued speech, or total communication (based on student needs)
Self-advocacy and compensatory skills
Adapt and modify curriculum to ensure accessibility
Conduct assessments related to hearing, communication, and learning needs
Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, audiologists, SLPs, and families
Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal development and compliance with IDEA
Support students in using hearing assistive technology (e.g., FM/DM systems, hearing aids, cochlear implants)
Promote language development and social-emotional growth
Assist with transition planning for post-secondary education and independent living
Maintain accurate documentation and monitor student progress
Bachelor‘s or Master‘s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field
State certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Proficiency in communication modalities (e.g., ASL preferred, depending on student population)
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Experience working with students across a range of hearing abilities and educational settings
$45–$53 per hour
