Mortgage Loan Underwriter

The Consumers Credit Union team is looking to hire a passionate Mortgage Loan Underwriter to join our team. As a Mortgage Loan Underwriter, you will be responsible for approving mortgage loans, following credit union standards.

Our ideal candidate has 2-3 years of experience, a thorough knowledge of underwriting process and procedures, experience with Emcompass, and can consistently demonstrate strong logic and reasoning skills.

What you will do:

• Review and evaluate information on mortgage loan documents to determine if borrower, property and loan conditions meet investor and credit union standards.
• Utilize automated underwriting systems to underwrite mortgage loan files according to established lending standards for FNMA, FHLMC, and Credit Union policy and procedures
• Ability to apply knowledge and judgement to detailed loan analysis in order to offer effective underwriting alternatives for the member/borrowers.
• Has the authority to request any additional information prior to making credit decisions. 
• Performs detailed underwriting review of property appraisals in compliance with credit union policy, investor guidelines and regulatory requirements to ensure adequate collateral for the loan. Appraisals will be run through Collateral Underwriter as well to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Comply with all internal lending authority requirements as published.
• Work effectively in all mortgage loan origination and automated underwriting systems. 
• Assist in any area as directed by your s upervisor

What you'll bring to the table:

• Bachelor’s degree or 2-3 years equivalent work experience
• Previous experience and demonstrated success in residential mortgage loan underwriting required 
• Strong knowledge of secondary marketing investor and credit union standards 
• Strong knowledge of appraisal review criteria
