CRA Loan Officer

The CRA Loan Officer is responsible for developing and managing lending opportunities that support the objectives of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). This position focuses on serving low-to-moderate income (LMI) individuals and communities while ensuring all activities comply with applicable regulatory standards. The role plays an important part in advancing financial accessibility, promoting affordable housing initiatives, and contributing to economic development within underserved markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate residential mortgage, consumer, and small business loan opportunities that serve LMI borrowers and communities.
• Build and sustain relationships with community organizations, nonprofit groups, housing authorities, and local government entities to expand CRA-related lending efforts.
• Provide education to clients and community partners on available lending programs, financial literacy resources, and affordable financing options.
• Partner with internal teams such as mortgage, compliance, credit, and risk to support the achievement of CRA lending objectives.
• Monitor and document lending activity to ensure compliance with CRA examination standards and internal performance targets.

Additional Responsibilities

• Participate in outreach initiatives including community events, homebuyer workshops, and financial education programs.
• Stay informed on regulatory requirements, including CRA, fair lending laws, and internal compliance policies.
• Deliver regular reporting to leadership on loan production, pipeline status, and community impact metrics.
• Demonstrate strong financial literacy knowledge and the ability to effectively guide and educate individuals in underserved communities.
• Take ownership of projects and responsibilities, working independently with sound judgment and minimal oversight.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
• 2+ years of experience providing lending services to low-income or underserved populations is required.

• Regulatory Expertise: Solid understanding of CRA, HMDA, and Fair Lending requirements.
• Community Engagement: Proven ability to establish and maintain partnerships within underserved areas.
• Analytical Ability: Capable of assessing loan applications and financial documentation with accuracy.
• Client-Centered Approach: Skilled in supporting borrowers with sensitivity to diverse financial situations.

• Communication Skills: Fluent in English with strong verbal and reading comprehension abilities.
