ORGANIZATIONDESCRIPTION Kansas City Ballet (KCB) is one of the nation’s most-respected professional ballet companies, with 30 dancers and 20 KCBII/Trainee members. KCB produces four productions at the Kau?man Center for the Performing Arts with additional programming at The Todd Bolender Center for Dance and Creativity, and special events throughout the season.

POSITIONDESCRIPTION TheAssistant Stage Manager (ASM) is an integral part of the Production Department and interacts
with all departmentswithin the organization. The ASM supports multiple members of both the
Productionand Artistic Sta? to ensure the safe and e?cient running of both day to day and
performancerelated tasks. This includes and is not limited to assisting with daily logistical matters
relatedto sta?, company dancers, second company dancers, student performers and guest artists.
Regularo?ce hours are 10:00am – 6:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Flexibility is required as the work schedule shifts depending on performance and other special events.
PRIMARYRESPONSIBILITIES
- Assistthe stage manager with day-to-day operations e.g., preparation of rehearsals and
performancesspaces for the needs of artistic sta? and dancers.
- Assist withthe production and distribution of show paperwork.
- Runthe deck during tech rehearsals and performances.
- Coordinate and supervise Student’s Stage Managers for The Nutcracker and other productions where students are involved. Participate in student supervision duties, student auditions and rehearsals as needed.
- Beingprepared to call performances or special events as needed by the Stage Manager.
- Assistthe Artistic Director with the coordination of company auditions.
- Assistthe Chief Operating O?cer with guest travel and season calendar preparation.
- Videorecording of rehearsals and distribution of footage as needed by the Artistic Sta?.
- Attend Production meetings.
- Otherduties and projects assigned by the Director of Production.
- SpecialEvents may include:
- KansasCity Ballet’s annual Ballet Ball and Patron Dinner
- SecondCompany performances and community events
- KCBSchool end of year performance
QUALIFICATIONS:- Bachelor’sdegree from an accredited college or university in theatre, or an equivalent
combinationof professional experience.
- Abilityto read or follow a musical score is preferred.
- Excellentcommunication skills.
- Attentionto detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Organizeand communicate information clearly.
- Abilityto work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstratestrong analytical skills and face demanding situations with tenacity and sensitivity.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position, traverse for extended periods of time, lift or move items up to 50 lb.
- Pro?cient computer skills,Microsoft O?ce Products, Google Products.
- Knowledgeof, or willingness to learn, basic software and music editing software.
